Miles+Nature

The last week has been amazing! In our previous post I wrote about our plan to start increasing our daily mileage after Trail Days. Not only was Trail Days a success,  our plan to increase mileage is working out great. We are averaging over twenty miles a day and are taking two lower mile days at  resupply points. A big thanks to Turkey, Chris, Rob, and Mike for helping make Trail Days a great experience. Another thanks to nature for making each mile on the Appalachian Trail so beautiful.

One thing we are noticing more and more is the abundance of wildlife on the trail. Squirrels, chipmunks, birds and other small animals are all over the place. We have become experts at spotting things while hiking. Picking  up trash along the trail has helped us become much  more aware while in the woods. We often spot the little animals that go unseen. Below are some photos of a few animals we've seen while packing it out.  I hope everyone has a great weekend and don't forget to Pack It Out.

Cheers,
Cap

  1. I just love your posts. They are always so uplifting. I love the fact that you all are noticing the small creatures as they are so essential to the life chain. And are usually one of the first to suffer from pollution. So by you all packing it out, you are helping make their survival possible. I tell everyone I meet about you and what you are doing. Keep packing it out!
